About Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia is located on the east coast of Canada and is almost completely surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, with over 7,400 kilometers of stunning coastline. The province covers about 55,000 square kilometers and has a population of roughly one million people. Halifax, the capital city and largest urban center serves as a major economic and cultural hub for Atlantic Canada.Nova Scotia’s economy is diverse, with key industries including fishing, forestry, agriculture, and shipbuilding. In recent years, sectors such as ocean technology, renewable energy, film production, and information technology have been identified for growth. Tourism also plays a major role, as visitors are drawn to the province’s scenic landscapes, historic sites, and world-famous hospitality.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must have a minimum personal net worth of CAN$400 000.
- Plan to live in Nova Scotia.
- Must have previously at least 3 years of experience as business owner and at least 5 years of management experience in the past 10 years.
- Have at least the equivalent of a Canadian high school diploma.
- Be at least 21 years old at the time of application.
- Have a minimum score of 5.0 on the IELTS.
- Must make a minimum of CAN$100 000 investment in your own business.
- Run the business for at least 12 months before we can apply for your Permanent Residency Visa.
- Provide active and on-going management of the business from within Nova Scotia.
- Has to be a for-profit business selling goods or services and has the potential to benefit the Nova Scotia economy (eg: it develops innovative approaches to traditional business or it brings new technology or specialized knowledge to Nova Scotia).
- Have a fixed address and pay the appropriate income taxes.
- Must have an approved business plan to do business in NS - to be prepared in collaboration with Desjardins Lawyers.
- Create at least one new full-time job for a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Attend an interview virtually with the Government.
